Frontier markets are the next generation of emerging markets that include countries such as Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Egypt. These are countries that come from a low level of economic development but which have undergone a transformation in the last decade and now are among the fastest growing economies in the world. Tundra’s definition of frontier markets are countries defined by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income countries.
Emerging markets (tillväxtmarknader) are larger, more established economies such as India, Brazil, or South Africa.
Frontier markets are smaller and earlier in their development, but often grow faster and may be undervalued compared to larger peers.
We invest in both, but with a unique expertise in the frontier segment.
These markets offer high growth potential, fueled by young populations and rapid urbanization. They also provide valuable diversification benefits, as they often develop independently from established markets. In addition, many companies remain under-researched and undervalued compared to their global peers, creating attractive investment opportunities.
